These guidelines support educators or providers in creating experiences that are engaging, equitable, and deeply connected to student learning.

• Learning Happens Everywhere
  Field trips extend instruction beyond the classroom, connecting academic content to authentic community contexts along with real world relevance. 
• Immersive and Hands-On Experiences
  Programs emphasize active participation, inquiry, and exploration to improve content retention and engagement. Students may have agency or voice and choice in the activities. (students do, not just listen)
• Memorable and Meaningful
  Experiences are designed to create lasting connections that motivate continued learning.
• Aligned With Learning Standards and Outcomes
  Each experience is grounded in clearly articulated learning objectives and ties directly to curriculum standards.
• Equity and Access
  Participation is not limited by income, transportation, disability, or language barriers. 
• Community Partnerships
  Collaboration with the arts, cultural institutions, museums, nonprofits and businesses deepens relevance and impact to the student. 
• Trained and Engaging Facilitators
  The facilitator actively engages students with questions, demonstrations, and hands-on activities, helping them make meaningful connections between the activity and what they are learning in school
